SOSHANGUVE CLINIC FOR HIV/AIDS RESEARCH FOR THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AFRICA (MEDUNSA) - 2003 Conversion and transformation of an old building to accomodate consulting rooms for a clinic, all under a very tight budget of approximately R0,6m. The shell and relatively small footprint of the old buildings were maintained. Part of the approach was to cut away existing passages and swing aroung existing rooms, in order to create more efficient circulation and waiting areas. The result was an increase in approximately 25% additional consulting spaces within the same footprint. before after - new entrance before - south passage after - space swung around to create consulting room foyer. Consulting rooms now have access to natural light and ventilation. outdoor waiting area added to building

LENASIA CLINIC Completed around 1984, the hospital comprises maternity wards, short stay wards, operation theatres, casualty, dental clinic, physiotherapy, ante-natal clinics and dispensary units.
